SANDRA K. LEE

Sandra Lee Kawano, a/k/a Sandra K. Lee is the Chief Executive Officer, Board Chairman and a majority owner of Lee Risk Management Inc..  As a Principal of this Minority Business Enterprise and Women Owned Enterprise, Ms. Lee has over forty years of experience in the insurance, small business, real estate and the health care sectors.  She is a dedicated agent and broker knowledgeable in many aspects of Risk Management and Insurance Placement of coverage and group benefits for public entities, state and city agencies, and non profit organizations.

 

Joining the family insurance business in 1981 after a formidable career in nursing, Ms. Lee is a Property and Casualty Broker as well as a Life and Health agent in New York and over 20 other states.  She is also a NYS Licensed Real Estate Broker and Registered Nurse. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester and the Helene Fuld School of Nursing.

 

Ms Lee is an active civic and community leader and was a White House Conference for Small Business NYS Delegate, appointed by President Clinton and served on the US SBA’s Regional Fairness Board and National Advisory Council.  For over a decade, she had served as a Commissioner on the NYS Governor’s Commission for a Healthy New York and was selected as a David Rockefeller Fellow by the New York City Partnership for senior executives with a strong civic commitment to NYC.  She led the initiative for the agency to become certified as a MBE, WBE in the 1990’s and has paved the way for others to participate in the NYS Empire State Development programs.

 

She has been the recipient of many civic, business and insurance awards over the years and has served on many boards and insurance industry councils (Chubb, Travelers, One Beacon.  She chaired the National Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America’s  Diversity Council as a longtime member. Her active participation earned her recognition by Crain’s New York Business as a top 100 Influential Business Leader and the next year, as a Top 100 Minority Business leader.
